Sarah Stivers paints in her beloved city of Portland, Oregon. She studied painting with the artist Debo in Ajijic, on lake Chapala in Mexico in 2002. She hopes that her work inspires a connection with the natural world.The sturgeon paintings were made with layers of acrylic on canvas.  There is an old saying, that lotus blossoms only grow from the mud. These paintings contrast, express and comfort the layers that connect what is of this world with what has passed on.
